Introducing Krakow
A convenient train ride from Warsaw, Krakow is a highly historic center of Polish culture. Legend states that Krakow was founded after the defeat of a dragon. The city is based around a medieval center called Old Town, and much medieval and Renaissance architecture remains. The blend of ancient and modern culture creates a unique atmosphere. Transportation is done primarily through buses and trams.
Krakow was the ancient capital of Poland, and the castle Wawel housed kings for several hundred years. Krakow also has a historic Jewish neighborhood, Kazimierz. The nearby Galicia museum commemorates the murder of 90% of the Jewish population in World War II.
