The Youth Park

Situated in southern Bucharest, with an area of about 200 hectares, is now the largest park in the city. Architect Valentin Donose, the Park's designer, planned to build a vast green area for recreation of the population, so, the planting of the park began in 1965 and the works lasted until 1974. Aside from green areas, the park has a number of playgrounds as well as a navigable lake, utilised by leisure boats in summer.The area plays a particularly important role for a number of rare bird species who stay here for a while during the spring and autumn migration.
