The Macca-Villacrosse passage

A covered Bucharest passage, classified as a historical monument, linking Victoria Street and Lipscani Street. At the end of the 19th century, the old Han Villacrosse was demolished and replaced by a more modern building. Between these buildings were built passages covered by the passage pattern that existed in other cities in Europe and which had begun to appear in Bucharest. Because the central part was occupied by the Pesht Hotel, which the owner refused to sell, the passage was executed with two wings around the two sides of the hotel. Covered with glass and elongated horseshoe, designed by architect Felix Xenopol, it was finished in 1891.

After 1989, the passage resumed its original name of Macca-Villacrosse and was given to the old owners. The passage has not been renovated and various restaurants have been installed instead of small shops, including a Egyptian-themed bar-restaurant, the Blues Cafe, a bistro, a Chinese restaurant, a luxury jewel, a pawn shop and a numismatic shop.
