Introducing Douala

Douala is Cameroon's largest city and commercial center. Douala, Cameroon's largest city, has a metro population of nearly three million people and is located on the Wouri River Delta, where it houses a port and 95 percent of the country's industrial activity. Although it was initially populated by Congo River tribes, the rest of Cameroon's history followed a similar pattern: Portuguese colonists were replaced by Germans, who were replaced by French and English after WWI, and finally independence. It served as the country's capital from 1940 to 1946, until Buea and then Yaounde took over. However, it has always been a commercial hub.

Douala is a very hot and sticky city, and the infrastructure in some areas is in disrepair. With an increasing number of people coming here in search of a better life, it is struggling to keep up with problems such as pollution and overcrowding. Unfortunately, there aren't many tourist attractions, and prices appear to be high due to all of the trade and industry.

The city was bad, the people were obnoxious, the transportation was bad, the hotels were overpriced, and nearly every girl I met was only interested in making money.
